It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Francis Xavier MacDonald of Kingsville who died at home on Wednesday, February 21st. Born on July 12, 1937, Francis was the son of the late Dan P. & Mary Catherine (Mona) MacDonald.
Francis was an employee at the pulpmill in Point Tupper for 34 years, retiring in 2000. Francis enjoyed the simple things in life such as going to bingo and a good game of cards. He was a life long member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish, Glendale.
He will be dearly missed by his brother Angus (Grace) Glendale, sisters Anna Gillis, Port Hawkesbury, Mary Boudreau & Kathleen Lussier, both of Waltham, MA, & sister-in-law Joan Reynolds, Port Hastings as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by his brothers Edward (Eddy), Donald & Malcolm, sisters-in-law Sadie & Bessie, brothers-in-law Duncan Gillis, Joseph Boudreau, Richard Lussier & his nephew Barry MacDonald.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25th from 2-8pm at Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 26th at 11:00am in St. Mary of the Angel’s Church, Glendale. Fr. Joe MacKenzie presiding. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or a charity of your choice.
