Francis Joseph Furlong, of Smith Crossing, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 75.
Born in Howard, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (keenan) Furlong. He worked as a woodsmen and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Howard.
He will be greatly missed by his son Francis Jr (Emanuella) of Howard Rd; seven sisters Elizabeth Storey of Howard Rd, Mary Preston (James) of Bathurst Hwy, Florence Preston of Miramichi, Elsie Jardine of Saint John, Judy Kennedy (Terry) of Clark’s Corner, Helen Furlong (Pat DeWolfe) of Howard, and Cathy Colford (Ricky) of Howard; three brothers Paul (Connie) of Upper Blackville, Pat (Colleen) of Miramichi, and Leonard of Blackville; two grandchildren Danielle and Joshua; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Francis was predeceased by his wife Bridget Carmel Ann (Nash) Furlong; sister Carmel, and two brothers Junior and Willis.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Father AA McKinnon Memorial Room, in Blackville, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 12:30 pm, from St Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, Blackville, with Father Godwin Kalu SMMM officiating.
As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Miramichi SPCA, or to a memorial of one’s choice.
