Obituary of Francesco Spada
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Francesco Spada on March 14, 2018 at the age of 85. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Lina. Frank and Lina’s love story began at a very young age while growing up as neighbours in Mangone, Provincia Cosenza, Italy.
Lina emigrated to Canada and Frank followed shortly after. He will be sadly missed by his children Gino (late Cheryl), Maria (Tom) and Nancy. His grandchildren were his prized possessions. Loving nonno of Matthew (Jasmine), Stephanie (Thomas), Kaitlin, Vanessa and great nonno of Nina and Sloan. He will be missed by his sister Teresa Citrigno (late Michele), Rosina Naccarato (Domenic), Candido (Joanne), and by his sister in-law Flora Spada. Predeceased by his parents Eugenio and Marietta, and by his brothers Vincenzo (late Miriam) and Santino.
The family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Friday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 379 Fares Street, Port Colborne, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Michael Andrysiak officiating. Rite of Committal with Entombment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
