Florence Elizabeth Burton
April 15, 1929 – January 24, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Florence Elizabeth Burton on January 24, 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 88 years. Florence was born in Benito, Manitoba on April 15, 1929. Together with the love of her life, Wesley Charles Burton, they raised seven children. In their adventurous 62 years together, they made a home in Swan River, Manitoba before making a few pit stops over the years and ending up in Strathmore, Alberta. After her husbands passing she moved to Winnipeg where she resided for the last 9 years.
The simple things in life brought her the greatest joy. Whether it be visiting with her children, adding more photos to her gallery wall of fame, bowling, tending to her garden, making beautiful quilts, playing many intense games of crib, tinkering on her computer and facebook, or hosting sleepovers for, and filling her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all sorts of chocolate and candy. She was blessed to live a full, beautiful life and she knew it.
Florence was predeceased by her parents Walter and Nellie Stacey, her husband Wesley Charles Burton, her siblings Louise, Ileen and George, her eldest daughter Arlene (James Hugh) and her Grandson Ben.
She leaves to mourn her children, Caroline (Murray), Kathy (Larry), Verna (Joe), Bruce (Donna), Delbert (Bonnie), Lois (Doug) as well as 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. All of which she was famous for keeping in line and loving unconditionally. At Florence’s request there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made in her memory to Heritage Lodge, 3555 Portage Avenue Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3K 0X2
