OBITUARY
Fijgje Tiggelaar
June 22, 1919 – August 27, 2018
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother was taken home to be with her LORD on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the age of 99. She communicated and witnessed throughout her life; her desire was to faithfully serve her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We will miss her sense of humor and her ability to see the positive in life.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jan in 1992 after fifty years of marriage. They were blessed with seven children: John (Pat) who passed away in 2015, Embert Jan (Dianne) Fenny (Henry), Albert (Lori), Ewart (Jane), Ivan (Hilda) and Richard (Cherie). She will be missed by her thirty grandchildren, over eighty great grandchildren of whom three are predeceased, and eight great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings and her husband’s siblings. She is survived by her brother in law Gerry Kuik and many nieces and nephews both in Canada and the Netherlands.
Jan and Fijgje (anglicized to Frances) and their family immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1951, first settling in the Carman area of the province and then moving to Winnipeg. She was busy raising her family and also worked at Premier Printing for many years. She resided at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home for the past six years and her family thanks the staff for their Christian love and care for our mother and grandmother. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 1st, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Redeemer Canadian Reformed Church (corner of Dugald and Bates) followed by interment at Green Acres Funeral Home & Cemetery and then a standing reception at the church. Please note that the Redeemer church building is by necessity a scent-free facility to support the serious health concerns of other worshippers.
