Obituary of Everett Reid
Age 90, of Welsford, River John, passed away on July 11, 2018, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche, following a lengthy illness. Everett was a son of the late John Robinson and Maude Ellen (Langille) Reid and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In his younger years he spent a few years working in Toronto. He then came home and took over the family farm as well as working for the Pictou District School Board as a bus driver and parts manager. He had a large personality, enjoyed visits from his neighbors as well as talking to strangers he met on his travels. He had lots of stories to tell to the enjoyment of his nieces and nephews, who adored being with him. Everett was keenly interested in genealogy. He researched and remembered the family trees of many people in the area as well being knowledgeable about his own family history. He was an amateur photographer and in later years was an avid reader. Everett will be sadly missed by his daughter, Linda Tingley, Ottawa; son-in-law, Robert Patriquin, Cape John; granddaughter, Kelly Milton, St. John’s, NL; grandsons, Scott Milton, Lincoln, ME and Mark Milton, Campobello Island, NB; niece, Joan (Russell) Graham, Scotsburn; nephews, John (Mary) Logan, Annapolis Royal; Bob (Isabel) Reid, Abercrombie; Wayne (Dorothy) Henderson, Lyons Brook; Bill (Kathy) Reid, Prince Rupert, BC; and Paul (Lavinia) Reid, Prince George, BC. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughters, Marilyn Reid Patriquin and Beverly Reid; brothers, Merril and James; sisters, Helen Logan, Jean Henderson and Eva; nieces, Ruth Drew and Mary Logan; nephews, Sandy Logan, David Reid and Don Reid. Cremation has taken place. A committal service will be held in Hamilton Cemetery, River John, at 2 pm on Sunday, July 15th with a reception to follow in the hall of St. George’s Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche. The nurses, doctors and staff there were unfailingly caring and compassionate over many weeks. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
