Evelyn Paddock peacefully passed into glory on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Steinbach, Manitoba, reaching the age of 85 years.
Evelyn was born on February 6, 1933 to John and Beatrice Burton of Long Island. On June 21, 1960, she married Goodwin Paddock and together they made their home in Springdale, Newfoundland. She worked in the local grocery store but is best remembered for being a friend to all. She proved faithful to her promise to love in health and in sickness as she diligently cared for Goodwin through all his years of illness. She became a Christian at a young age and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite and faithfully lived out her convictions and was true to her Lord. In later years, she moved to Manitoba.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Shirley (Gary) Greenslade, granddaughters Jennifer Greenslade and Jeanette (Sid) Mercer Mackenzie and Noah of St. John’s, Newfoundland; her sister Joyce Reid; and many nieces and nephews and special friends she made in Steinbach. She was Grandma Evelyn to Richard (Wanda) Giesbrecht and family and to Barry (Margie) Dueck and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Goodwin; her parents Johnny and Beatrice Burton; brothers Wallace, Gideon, Raymond, Jordan and Otto; sisters Josie Burton and Myrtle Tucker.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Maplewood Manor, Steinbach, Manitoba, with Ministers Ralph Toews and Michael Penner officiating. The interment will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, Manitoba.
