Evelyn Mary Power of Portugal Cove South joined her loving husband Earl and her darling daughter Arlene (Kennedy) on February 6th, 2018.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Marvin (Beverly), Theresa (Alonzo Molloy), Mary (Eddie Fontaine), Earl (Charlene), Tony (Cynthia), Vince (Tammy Mercer), son in-law Mike Kennedy and their families.
Predeceased by parents John & Theresa O’Leary, brothers Gus & Gordon, sisters Beth (Ashley) & Eileen (Hartery).
Evelyn was born 1927 and raised in the community of Portugal Cove South, where she met and married her true love Earl. Her family was her life, she treasured her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The many visits and sleepovers at Nanny’s will be forever cherished. The aroma of freshly baked jam tarts and homemade bread made your visit more special. Evelyn was well known for her beautiful hooked rugs and knit-ted socks. She loved playing bingo and could challenge the best of em in a good game of 120.
Since 2013 she resided at St Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. Johns, her home away from home. She made a lasting impression on those she met with her loving smile and warm hugs.
To the staff, a huge thank you for the gentle and loving care you provided to Mom. During her short illness our family was treated with outstanding care and compassion and for that we will be forever grateful. To her special niece Joan Hartery Delaney, she looked forward to your daily visits the past years, Thank You!
Evelyn is resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home Trepassey February 8th, 6-9pm, February 9th, 2-4pm & 7-9pm. February 10th, 9:30– 10:30am. Funeral Mass at Holy Redeemer Church, Trepassey to follow at 11:00am. Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Portugal Cove South.
