Mrs. Evelyn Nixon passed away peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB. on Sunday, December 16, 2018.
Born at Greenock, NB., daughter of the late Jeremiah and Susan (Lee) Collins.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Evelyn is survived by three children, Marilyn (Ronald) James of St. Stephen, NB., Calvin Nixon of Fredericton, NB. and Jocelyn (Donald) Craig of Oak Bay, NB., seven grandchildren, Deborah, Brian, Darren, Jeremy, Shelley, Nathan and Jordan, nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Kaya, Quinn, Finley, Avary, Mackenzie, Benicio, Catalaya, one sister, Edna Southard of Calais, Me., several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was predeceased by one sister, Gladys and two brothers, Ralph and Frederick.
After growing up in Greenock she worked for a short time in St. Stephen before marrying Eldon in 1948. Nick and Evelyn owned and operated Nixon’s Variety Store on King Street in St. Stephen for a number of years. Evelyn also worked at various other jobs throughout her life.
Evelyn was an excellent cook and homemaker. She was a life member of the Kirk McColl UCW K-M Unit and the Royal Canadian Legion # 9 Junior Ladies Auxiliary.
The family will receive friends at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 12-2 PM. followed by the funeral service at 2 PM.
