Obituary for Esther Barteaux (Strong)
BARTEAUX, Esther (nee Strong) – Surrounded by her family, Esther passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital on Friday, March 23, 2018 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Ken “JR” Barteaux (2002). Cherished mother of Leonard Barteaux (Sarah), Ronald Barteaux (Linda) and Julie Cope. Proud and loving grandmother of Sherry, Craig (Michelle), Misty (Randy) and Dessaree. Great-grandmother of Marrisa, Leo, Mika, Lauren, Morgan and Paisen. She will be sadly missed by her faithful dog Sassy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Della Strong and her nine siblings.
Born in South Waterville, Nova Scotia, Esther devoted her life to caring for her family and her pets. She shared her talent and love of music through years of volunteering, most recently at the Wellness Centre in Welland. She could play almost any instrument including the guitar and the violin. She treasured the time she spent with her family and created many memories doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. She was kind, warm-hearted, and easygoing. She also had a great sense of humour, a spirited side and a quick wit about her that always kept you on your toes. Esther was loved and will continue to be loved and remembered by so very many.
Cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Wednesday, March 28th at 1 p.m. with visitation two hours prior, beginning at 11 a.m. The family suggests that donations may be made to the Welland Humane Society.
