Eric E. Sahli
He may not have attained his goal of reaching his 100th birthday, but in his 93 years, Eric achieved more than he ever could have imagined. On Friday, October 12, 2018, the family of Eric Sahli lost, but is celebrating, an incredible man.
Eric was predeceased by his much-loved partner in life Gerry (2015), his wife of 63 years. Together they raised four children who will always be grateful for their unwavering teamwork of living by example through love, laughter and integrity. Dad’s memory will always live on in the hearts, and senses of humour of Sandra & Jim Fazackerley, Marc, Pamela & Brent Hanson, Ellen & Ian Murray and his beloved daughter-in-law Jean. His children hope he knew how very proud we were to say, “That’s my Dad”.
Papa Eric’s grandchildren never ceased to be a constant source of joy and pride. He will be dearly missed by Brian Sahli (Joanna), Nicole Seguin (Bobby), Mary Anne Murray (Joey) and Andrew Murray. Great-Papa Eric will be watching over his beautiful great-grandaughters Ruby, Lucy & Molly. Eric will also be fondly remembered by his “daughters-of-his heart”, Anne Boden and Sherry Richmond (who even in Eric’s last years never did manage to beat him at poker), his many nieces and nephews, as well as his extended family of Elsie Murray, Adrian Scott and Jay & Lilliian Woltz.
Predeceased by his siblings and in-laws Elva & Jerry Kostal, Margaret & Brent Tape, Glenn & Lois Sahli, Jim & Lillian McColman, Mary & Mickey McDermott and Danny & Margaret McColman.
After his service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he began his long and successful career with the CN Railway. He retired in 1986. Eric served as an Elder at Forest Glade Presbyterian Church and was a member at Paulin Memorial Presbyterian Church.
As his wife, Gerry, would often point out, life for Eric was not all work. He was an accomplished golfer, loved bowling and playing cards. In memory of Eric, during the next few days hold open a door for someone, chat with the person behind you in the grocery store line or just give a friendly smile to a stranger. Eric would like that, because that is exactly how he lived out his Christian faith.
