SCHLEPPE, Emily (September 3 1934 – January 30 2018) – Our sister, wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. Emily’s parents, John and Josephine Usselman raised their family in the Kelowna area. Emily had two brothers, Gabe and Joe Usselman; five sisters, Mag Zerr, Helen Sand, Evelyn Ziegler, Francis (Warren) Hutchinson and Carol (Chet) Davis. Pete and Emily celebrated their marriage, June 13 1953, they shared their lives with three children, Linda (Doug) Paget, Greg (Candy) Schleppe, Pam Schleppe,… Read More » six grandchildren, and eleven great grand-children. In 1958 Emily and Pete made their new home in 100 Mile House B.C. Wonderful memories were made forming life long friendships, spending time at the lakes and camping in the Okanagan. During the cold cariboo winters is where Emily’s passion for curling was ignited, the ladies had great success bonspielling. In 1967, the family relocated to Kamloops, where the warmer climate allowed Emily to enjoy her garden, family outings, fishing, camping and celebrating many special occasions. In 1975, Emily went from a homemaker to a business partner with Peter when they purchased the Vavenby store, followed by a move to Oliver where they owned the Macleod’s hardware. Mom found her love for golf, enjoying the numerous golf courses in the area. In 1984 full circle brought Emily and Pete back to Kelowna, where they embraced retirement with their families and friends . They traveled to different parts of the world and took their annual trips down south. Mom’s hobbies turned to creating beautiful cross stitch pictures, which she shared with her family. On January 30, 2018 mom’s three long years of battling cancer came to a close. Emily joined her predeceased and beloved daughter, Pam while in the compassionate care of the staff in The Kelowna Hospice House. We would like to thank Doctor Sebulsky for all of her care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily’s memory to the Brain Injury Society, would be appreciated.
