Obituary Overview
Emerson, Lee Robert
The Family of Robert Lee Emerson with sadness and regret, announce his passing August 8, 2018, at the Red Deer General Hospital after his courageous battle with health issues.
Lee is survived by two daughters, Kelly and Cherrill Emerson, Brother Rick and Lynn Hewson, Edmonton, Sister Barb and Darcy Teichroeb, Red Deer, Nieces and Nephews, many friends–Special among them, Alice Emerson, Rocky Mountain House and Jim Zakowsky, Calgary. Lee was preceded in death by his parents Marj and Merv Hewson, and father Robert Clark Emerson who was killed in action in North Aftrica during WWII.
Lee was born on January 5, 1942 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, moving to Red Deer in 1954. Lee joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1959 and served a 5-year enlistment on Destroyers, Submarines, and the Aircraft Carrier HMCS Bonaventure. He participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, and the Peace-Keeping operation in Cyprus in 1964, along with a number of Naval Operations of the North Atlantic Squadron.
Lee’s business career included stints as a Lifeguard, Bartender, truck driver and Automotive Body shop owner. After moving to Vancouver, he spent a number of years in the Equipment Leasing Business and later as Founder of General
Leasing Corporation. He was the Developer and Founder of both CARFINCO, Inc. and RIFCO National Auto Finance, and it was his greatest pleasure and satisfaction as he watched both Companies continued growth and success.
Lee was loyal, and a mentor to his friends, persistent in business, maintained a great sense of humor, loved to read and was passionate about all business news. In retirement he traded in his business suits for jeans and ball cap, pursuing his love of his ’57 T-Bird, farm tractors, furry friends, outdoor life, and taking time to encourage all around him to pursue their dreams.
Funeral-Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 PM, August 16, 2018 at the Eventide Funeral Home in Red Deer. All are welcome to attend and anecdotes will be welcome! In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to ROAR Society, Rocky Mountain House.
Lee’s family would like to also extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people at Rocky Home Care, Rocky General Hospital, and the pharmacy team who helped give him compassionate support and care through his health struggles. All of you contributed in allowing him to retain his sense of humor and dignity making his health problems bearable. You have our gratitude.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Emerson Lee Robert 2018..
