Mrs. Elvie Louise Bruce

AUG. 5, 1920-DEC.16, 2018
It is with sadness I announce the passing of my Mother, Elvie Bruce.
In later life she returned to school and graduated from McKellar Hospital School of Nursing and obtained her
R.N. in 1961.She was employed at Westmount Hospital for 8 years and in 1970 she joined the staff of the
Nursing Assistant Centre as a clinical instructor at the Port Arthur General Hospital. She entered the field of Real Estate in 1974, and retired in 1986.
Elvie is survived by her son Cam, of Thunder Bay, ON, sisters Yvonne Hollbrook and Darlene Tiede, both of
Vancouver, B.C.
Elvie was predeceased by her parents Eva and Bob Thacker, husband Gerald in 1991, daughter-in-law Laurie
in 2006, and brother Bill Thacker in 2017.
As per Mother’s request, no formal service will be held. Cremation has taken place and interment will be
at Riverside Cemetery.
Special thanks to the staff of the Roseview Manor who took excellent care of Mother during her stay there.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
