Elsie Mary McLean
1926 – 2018
Elsie Mary McLean of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Red Bank, NB, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the age of 92. Born in East Bathurst, NB, Elsie was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (McDonald) King of Douglasfield.
Elsie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker, teacher, postal worker and was a clerk at various stores. Elsie was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Thomas CWL. She was loved by all who met her. Fiercely loyal, quick-witted and generous; she enjoyed having friends and family around her kitchen table to feed them and to play Auction 45’s.
Elsie is survived by three daughters: Maureen Donovan (Late Thomas) of Miramichi, NB, Elizabeth Rattray (John) of Moncton, NB and Helen McKay of Fredericton, NB; ten grandchildren: Shawn, Sheri, Pamela, Catherine, George, Robbie, Corey, Shane, Randy and Jennifer; nine great grandchildren: Jackson, Matty, Austin, Dreya, Ty, Brooke, Grace, Thomas and Jolie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Elsie is the last surviving member of her family. She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband Foran Dunn (1979) and her second husband Allan McLean (2009); sisters: Florence, Frances, and Mary; brothers: Harold, Bert, Michael and Benjamin.
Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home, Sunny Corner on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Red Bank on Wednesday, October 17th at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
