Elsie Bekker
1933 – 2018
Elsie Donalda Bekker passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the age of 85 years. Elsie leaves to cherish her memory children: Doug Bekker of Calgary, Ken (Cindy) Bekker of Vancouver and Joanne (Brent) Gilson of Medicine Hat; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Jessica, Joe, Kristina, Michelle and Julia; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Kasdorf and Wanda Neufeld as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Ida Heyde as well as her brother, Ron Heyde. Elsie was born in Bassano on January 5, 1933. She graduated in 1954 as a Registered Nurse in Calgary and continued nursing until the age of 72 years. Elsie loved quilting, knitting and doing puzzles. A Celebration of Elsie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating.
