1916-2018
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ellen Lenora Johnson (Kelsie), age 102, who peacefully paced away November 1, 2018, at Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, N.S.
Ellen was born in Cobequid Road, N.S. daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Williams) Kelsie. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by husband Harold Johnson; sisters Nellie Parsons, Clara Kelsie and Daisy Kelsie, granddaughter Audrey Keefe and son in law Ralph Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Johnson, Canso; Son Wayne Kelsie, Labrador. Also survived by grandchildren, Doreen, Boylston; Carolyn, Dartmouth; Brenda Joy(John), Kentville; Marla (Wilmont), Stouffville, Ontario and Ralph Johnson Jr.(Marcia) Timberlea, great grandchildren, Jeff(Caitlyn), Amy(Andrew), Keri(Mitchell), Barrett(Megan), Warren(Eva), Rodney(Chelsea), Nigel, Jarrett(Bridget), Jaycus, Jayda, Jayden; great great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Teagan, Clover, Aavah and Raina.
Ellen was an active member of many church organizations while she lived in Toronto for 26 years. She was gifted with a musical talent and played the accordion in various churches up into her eighties. She loved to travel and meet new people. Ellen moved to Canso with her daughter in 1990 where she also became a member of the Canso United Baptist Church. She was a person of great faith. She will be fondly remembered by many for her story telling.
The family would like to sincerely thank and express their gratification to the staff of Milford Haven Nursing Home for the love and excellent care that they gave to her. On special occasions they went above and beyond to make her feel special.
Visitation will be Sunday Nov 11th 6 to 8pm, Funeral Service Nov 12, 2018 11:00 am at the Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville with Pastor David Wheeler officiating. Burial will take place Nov 13, 2018 at Oakridge Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to Milford Haven Nursing Home or the Canso United Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Lower Sackville, 125 Sackville Drive, NS.
