Elizabeth (Betty) Hibbert – nee Nelson
April 24, 2018
Suddenly, as a result of a car accident, Elizabeth Hibbert passed away on April 23, 2018.
Originally from Bolton Ontario, Betty was a long time resident of Kirkton, St Marys and for a few years, Elliot Lake Ontario.
Predeceased by her husband George (2011) Betty is survived by her five children: Steven (Wendie), Brian (Jacqueline), Bill (Kathy), Doug (Fran) and Beth Cartlidge (Paul). She was a very proud and loving grandma of her 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Betty was a compassionate person and was her happiest when in the midst of big, noisy family gatherings. Although she had five children of her own, when she became aware of a family of five foster children in need of a home, she took them all so that they could stay together. She continued to foster a total of 14 children. She also loved her pets, and had numerous rescued dogs and cats over the years. She loved gardening, playing cards, knitting and reading. She was blessed to be in good health for the majority of her life.
Cremation to take place. Private family interment in St. Marys Cemetery.
An Open House Visitation will be held at the St. Marys Golf & Country Club, 769 Queen St E, St. Marys, on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 1 – 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to one of the charities that she was fond of supporting: Prostate Cancer, Crohns and Colitis Foundation and Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association.
