Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Seath passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 10, 2018 in Vermilion at the age of 93 years.
Betty was born on a farm just outside Birch Hills, Saskatchewan on July 10, 1924. She moved to Edmonton in the 50’s where she met and married Lloyd. After farming for several years near Provost, Alberta, they moved to Vermilion which became their permanent residence.
Betty and Lloyd loved to travel and after Lloyd’s retirement travel took them many places around the world. Betty welcomed into her family her children’s spouses, Wayne Clelland, Barb Saskiw, Brian MacPhee and Ken Sotheran. Over time she also saw a growing list of nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Countless hours were spent on the road to watch the grandchildren participate in hockey, ringette, baseball, basketball, soccer, figure staking, dance recitals or diving competitions. Joan’s husband Wayne, described Lloyd and Betty as the “Driving Fools”.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Joan Seath of Edmonton, Alan (Barb) Seath of Leduc, Margaret MacPhee of Vermilion, and Catherine (Ken) Sotheran of Airdrie; grandchildren Liam (Frankie) MacPhee, Roderick (Kristin) MacPhee, Meghan Peters, Robert Seath, Alicia (Rodney) Buydens, Kathleen Seath, Anne (Evan) Seath, Stephen Seath, and Eric Sotheran; great grandchildren Aidan Peters, Mark Seath, Kaydence Peters, Declan MacPhee, Kylee Buydens, Alexander Seath, Isabella MacPhee, and Camryn Buydens; siblings Alice (James) Brown and Ronald (Phyllis) Neatby; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd; parents Alan and Dorothy Neatby; sons in law Wayne Clelland and Brian MacPhee; and brother in law James Seath.
A Funeral Service will be taking place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Church, Vermilion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the I.O.D.E, the United Church Women (Vermilion), or charity of one’s choice.
