TAVANI, Elda
Peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family and friends after a brief illness at the Juravinski Hospital on Monday, August 27, 2018 in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Ginaldo for 61 wonderful years. Loving and devoted mother of Anna Thurston, and Josie (Joe) Pini. Most loving and cherished Nonna to Eric, Bradley, Julia, Daniel, and Marisa. Predeceased by her parents Giovanni and Berenice Di Michele. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of the late Alessandro and surviving wife Lisette Di Michele, the late Ava and Mario Di Giovanni, Lea and the late Mario Rastelli, Clara and Ernino Testardi, Elio and the late Rosina Di Michele, Irma and Armando Furii, the late Ettore and Benita Tavani, and Elena and the late Umberto Savini. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Elda worked at Coppley Apparel for over three decades. She was loved by all her coworkers who called her « mamma ». Elda had a genuine, kind heart and would help anyone and everyone without hesitation or without asking for anything in return. She was always full of energy and had a real zest and love for life. She had an incredible sense of humour and an infectious smile. She had many passions which included cooking, especially for her family on Sundays, baking, sewing, gardening and growing an amazing garden, especially her tomato plants, which were the talk of the town. She cherished all of her friends whom she loved very much, but her greatest love in life was her family who she would sacrifice anything for. A special thank you to the Juravinski Oncology staff for their care and support. Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E. (near James) on Friday from 1-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers Friday at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at All Souls Church, 19 Barton St. W., on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 9 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
