Forever missed & always remembered
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Glenn (nee Young), our loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Eileen passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:45PM surrounded by her devoted family after a courageous battle with breast cancer followed by open heart surgery.
Born on August 23, 1937 in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter of Frederick Earl Young (Kentville, NS) and Lillian Constance Lloyd (Worcester, Mass).
Eileen loved her home and was passionate about her huge organic vegetable garden which she harvested with pride every year. She enjoyed sewing, backyard birding, crosswords and was an expert scrabble player. Eileen was a master gardener and known for her incredible meat and apple pies and delicious preserves. She was a fabulous cook who prepared delectable meals for family and friends with flair. Eileen was a switchboard operator for Maritime Tel & Tel for ten years.
She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty years, Robert Edward Glenn; her grateful children Diana Vertis McIsaac, step children Helen, Wanda (Steve), Robert (Dawn), Preston (Kim), her sister Barbara Ann Smith (Young) and brother Ronald Rufus Young; granddaughter Alison Hill and grandson John McIsaac along with many step-grandchildren, step-greats, nieces and nephews.
Following Eileen’s wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Minudie Lake Cemetary in the Spring 2019.
The family is grateful to the ICU nurses of the QEII Cardiac Unit and palliative care unit of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre as well as Campbell’s Funeral Home in Amherst NS, 98 Church Street, 902-667-9906.
Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
