With heavy hearts we remember Effie ‘Catherine’ Matchem (Cluett), born November 21, 1940, in Frenchman’s Cove, Newfoundland; she is the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Selena,’Mini’ (Bond) Cluett, who passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the QEII Hospital , Nova Scotia. Effie then spent the rest of her career working at the Pictou Bakery for 11 years and then 28 years as the Resident Manager of Killam Properties in Halifax. She is still known today as baking the best bread rolls and donuts out there.
She loved to do many things such as playing crib every night with her dear husband Jack; bingo, ramoli, watching her beloved Blue Jays. Most importantly she cherished time spent with her 7 grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband John (Jack), Matchem; her daughters, Catherine (Peter Webber), Halifax, NS; Jacqueline (Brenton Daley), Scotsburn, NS; Rita (Philip Caissie), Bridgewater, NS; son David Matchem, Pictou, NS.
