Edie
Corey – 77, Truro, slipped peacefully into eternity at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on Thursday, July 5, 2018.
Edie was born in Havelock, New Brunswick and she grew up there before
settling in Truro with her family.
Edie was a
devoted Christian woman, godly wife, compassionate mother, fun-loving
nanny and a loyal friend to many.
Edie lovingly
leaves behind her husband, Roy, of 60 years and their children,
Michael (Edith), Darren (Nancy), and Kimberly. The joys of her life
were her grandchildren, Nathan and Amy and Justin and Naomi. Edie was
also able to enjoy four great grandchildren, Taylor, Dali, Jordyn and
Jace. Edie came from a large family that includes, Elsie (Art), Arthur
(Doris), Alan (Jean) and Arlene (Henry). Edie was predeceased by her
parents, James and Marjorie Cruickshank and her sisters, Ella (Bill)
and Diane.
Edie worked
as a telephone operator in Petitcodiac, New Brunswick, before moving
to Truro and became a stay at home mom looking after her three
children. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church and found much
delight in working with children for many years.
A special
thank you is extended to the nurses and doctors in Palliative Care for
all their tender care and support over the past three weeks. As well,
the Corey family would like to express a sincere thank you to Lynn
Dryden, best friend dear to Edie’s heart, who was by her side day and
night and was able to be with her until the end.
Edie’s family will receive
friends at 10 a.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Connection
Wesleyan Church, 38 Pleasant Street, Truro, followed by the funeral
service at 11 a.m., Reverend Amy M.
Taylor officiating. Reception will follow. Interment will be
held 5 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Butternut Ridge Wesleyan
Cemetery, Havelock, New Brunswick. Family flowers only. If so desired,
donations in Edie’s memory to Gideons International or
charity of your choice are welcomed.
