Edgardo Nicolas Sylvia
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Edgardo Sylvia, on Sunday September 2, 2018 at the Health Sciences Centre.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Jose and Rufina Sylvia, as well as his two brothers Jose Jr. (Boy) and Antero.
Ed will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Lydia of 47 years, his sons Henry (Angela), Rod (Brigitte), his grandchildren; Aaliya, Megan, and Jaeda, as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed came to Canada in 1971, to reconnect and marry the love of his life Lydia. In 1976 he became a Bus Driver for Winnipeg Transit, from which he retired in 2010. He had many interests. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, an active member of Bel Acres Golf Course, and LaVerendrye Bowling Lanes, where he excelled in these sports. Ed was also an active mall walker in Polo Park, and spent his retirement years spending every moment together with his Lydia.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the family and friends who have traveled extensively to support them during this difficult time.
Lamay will be held from 7:00 pm ~ 12:00 am on Sunday September 9, 2018 at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with prayers at 7:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St Edwards Roman Catholic Church, 836 Arlington Street, with interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
