It is with heavy hearts but with peace we announce the passing of Edgar Judson Wheelock from this world to the presence of the Lord at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home on January 1st, 2018. Born in Clarence, NS on July 19th, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Eugenie (Daniels) Wheelock. After moving from Nova Scotia, Edgar and Margaret settled in Grand Bay-Westfield. Edgar worked for many years at T.S Simms, the D.V.A Hospital and retiring from the Saint John Regional Hospital. Over the years, Edgar and Margaret enjoyed camping at Mactaquac, Oak Point and Crystal Beach meeting many new friends, boating and travelling on cruises. Edgar enjoyed wood working, gardening and working at the food pantry at Calvary Temple Church where he was a member. He especially loved family gatherings. Edgar was a devoted husband who loved to share the story of how he and Margaret met.
Edgar is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Townsend) of 70 years; daughters Barbara Rogers (Clayton), Betty Hayward (Maurice); grandchildren Laura Hayward, Kate Dammerman (Brandon), Jill Keliher (Josh), Andrew Rogers (Kelly); great grandchildren Carly and Jack Rogers, Margaret “Maggie” Dammerman. Besides his parents, Edgar was predeceased by his sister Thelma Goldsmith and infant great grandson Thomas Rogers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will take place from Calvary Temple (83 Sydney St.) on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 from 11 till 1 p.m. followed by a service beginning at 1 p.m. at the church. A private family interment will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in memory of Edgar may be made to Calvary Temple Church, The Lung Association, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
