OBITUARY
E. Doreen MacQuarrie
14 September , 1927 – 2 May , 2018
MACQUARRIE, E. Doreen – 90, of Dartmouth passed away on May 1, 2018 with her daughter by her side. Doreen was the daughter of the late Alfred and Irene (Sterns) Dunlap. Born in Moncton but raised in Souris, PEI. She attended Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown where she also worked before marrying Walter. They moved to Dartmouth in 1955 where he was stationed by the Navy. When Dad retired from the Navy, he operated the Dartmouth Bicycle Shop and Mom did the bookkeeping. She also began to work along side of him, affectionately known as the “Gofer”. Mom was a loving mother, great cook, very crafty and took sewing, painting, quilting and gardening classes. She was a member of the South End Unit of the UCW. She spent many years watching local hockey with Dad at the rinks. Mom was a strong lady who suffered with severe rheumatoid arthritis which never slowed her down. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son; John (Angie), daughter; Jean (John Kilroy), grandson; Kirby (Deepti) and great-granddaughter; Maev. She was predeceased by her loving husband; Walter (1985). Funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 6th at 1:30pm in Grace United Church, 70 King St., Dartmouth. Rev. Stephen Fram will be officiating. Private family burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: the Arthritis Society Nova Scotia, Grace United Church or a charity of choice.
