Duane Soroko
1954 – 2018
Duane Soroko, 64, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Estevan, Sask. on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
Duane was born to Ernest and Madeline Soroko in Estevan, Sask. He was the eldest of six children. Duane went to school in Estevan. At a young age, he left Estevan with the carnival and worked with the Ray Camrack Show for 13 years. When he returned to Canada, he worked at various jobs in Estevan as a mechanic and in the oilfield (Schindel and Bazin, Bert Baxter Transport, Glen Peterson Construction, Hunt Hotshot and Blackie’s Coring).
Duane loved to fish, camp (cowboy coffee) and play pool and managed to win a coupe of tournaments doing so.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Madeline Soroko; uncles, Archie Van Loo and Rene Van De Woestyne and auntie Ruth.
Duane leaves the love of his life Linda Curry (pup Oscar) of 16 years; his son Troy (Lisa) Soroko; grandson Alexander and granddaughter Isabella; his brothers and sisters: Daryl (Cindy) Soroko, Donald Soroko (Kathy), Darby Soroko (Doris), Dolores Barrett (Don) and Debbie Schlamp (Cory); aunties, Pauline and Mary, as well as his nieces and nephews.
A Public Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan. To celebrate Duane’s life, a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Community Church, Estevan, with Pastor Les Dueck officiating. Interment will follow at Souris Valley Memorial Gardens, after which a luncheon will be held at the church.
