John passed away peacefully at Broadmead Lodge on March 15th, 2018 at the age of 97. Beloved husband of Elizabeth for 53 years and in later years companion to Edith Jackson. John leaves behind his devoted loving family, sons Jim (Donna), Bill (Catherine), daughter Elizabeth, grandchildren, Ross (Julia), Devon (Danny), Courtney (Scott), Kristin (Kevin), Dana, Jamie and great-grandchildren Paige, Thomas, and Carter. Son of Aida Lena and Duncan MacPherson and a native Victorian.
John completed his undergraduate education at Victoria College and dental degree from the University of Toronto. John was a very respected member of the Victoria dental community and Gold Study Club and practiced dentistry on Oak Bay Avenue for 50 years. John was a fine athlete in his school years and an excellent tennis player, and a long-time member of the Victoria Lawn Tennis and Racquet Clubs. He loved to golf with his sons and wife and was a member of the Victoria Golf Club for over 50 years.
John was an avid fisherman who especially enjoyed fishing at Qualicum Beach where he and his family spent many memorable summers together. The family is grateful for his last few years, where many hours were spent reflecting on his wonderful life, sharing stories and enjoying meals together. The family would like to thank all the caregivers for the compassionate care John received at the Veteran’s Memorial Lodge at Broadmead.
There will be no Funeral Service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Veteran’s Memorial Lodge at Broadmead 4579 Chatterton Way, V8X 4Y7.
