Obituary of Douglas Rines
RINES – Douglas Ross, age 64, of Riverside Corner, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2018, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Riverside Corner on December 8, 1953, he was the loving son of William Rines and the late Velma (Singer) Rines. Douglas was a remarkable person whose world revolved around his family and many friends. He enjoyed his long career and many long hours working hard each day. He always understood that the quality of life far exceeds the quantity of time in which you live. Douglas’ never-ending courage throughout his battle with cancer showed us that each day is a blessing and to create many lasting memories. Douglas is survived by his loving father, William; son, Brian (Jennifer Chaisson); grandson, Douglas Chaisson; granddaughter, Jaylyn Rines; daughter in law and special friend Nadine Watson; sisters, Helen Barron (Jim), Truro and Gail Rines, Calgary; brothers, Wayne (Kathy), Shubenacadie; Merlin (Debbie), Rawdon; David and Ronald, both of Riverside Corner; and Randall, Calgary; many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Besides his mother, Doug was predeceased by his son Jason, and sister Joan Marlene, who passed away with mother Velma on February 7, 1982. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25 from 7-9pm, with a funeral service on Thursday, April 26 at 2pm, both at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. Following the service, a private committal for Doug and son Jason will be held at Kennetcook Cemetery, with a reception at the Kennetcook Fire Hall.
