OBITUARY
Douglas Roland McCune
February 5, 1951 – December 4, 2018
McCUNE: Douglas Roland. Doug passed away on December 4th, 2018 at the Kelowna Hospice House at the age of 67. He will be greatly missed by friends old and new who shared his wicked sense of humour, fishing, golf and baseball trips. Doug was made for retirement. In the summer, he golfed, fished and gardened. In the winter, he tied flies, read voraciously, and built incredible projects in his wood working shop with one of his 2,500 favourite songs booming over the sound or powers tools. The rest of the year, he and Sandy traveled, cooked together and enjoyed the wonderful Okanagan. Doug is survived by his loving wife Sandy, their four children (whom he considered his greatest accomplishments) Shane, Meaghan (Denis), Conor and Erin (Lance): grandchildren , Averi, Jackson, Nicolas and Nathaniel; brother Mervyn (Doreen), sister-in-law Janet and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all those who cared for Doug over the last five years: Dr. Pamela Allardyce for her unwavering support, the many oncologists and radiation specialists at the Cancer Clinic, the community palliative care nurse and the staff and nurses of the hospice house for their kindness and care over the past few weeks. As Doug was a very private man, he has requested no service, His ashes will be scattered at various place around the world that held a special significance to him. Instead spend a day making memories with your family. In lieu of flowers, pay for a PSA test for every many you hold near and dear. Rest in peace, Doug. You will be in our hearts forever.
