Obituary Overview
Remembering Douglas…
HARDIE, Douglas Henry
1939 – 2018.
It is with profound sadness and yet fond memories that we say goodbye to our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle at the age of 79 years. Doug is survived by his wife of 54 years, Amy; his daughters Jan (Brian); Sandra (Will); Michelle (Colin), his sister Karen (Vern) and his 8 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents John and Irene Hardie, and his brothers John and Bob.
Doug was born in Pouce Coupe, BC, grew up in Fairview and after marrying Amy in 1964, lived in Grande Prairie where they owned and operated the “Tartan Motel”.
A chance friendship with an overnight guest, led to a move to Edmonton and a 35 year career in the printing business. Upon retirement in 1997, Doug took great joy in his grandkids, the game of golf, winters in AZ and cheering for the Blue Jays and Oilers.
Doug was a true gentlemen and will be dearly missed. The family would also like to thank the amazing staff at Laurier House where he had resided since suffering a debilitating stroke in April. In lieu of flowers, donations can be offered in Doug’s name to the Capital Care Laurier House Lynnwood.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, 1 pm at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club, 51320 Range Road 260.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Douglas Henry Hardie 2018..
