OBITUARY
Douglas Frederick Oakley
May 24, 1925 – September 26, 2018
Age 93, of Dartmouth, passed peacefully on September 26, 2018 in Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Charles and Daisy May Oakley. Survived by loving wife, Carole; children, Bill (Rosemary), Jan (Albert McDonald), Bruce (Lynn); stepsons, Ian (Laurie) Touesnard and Blane (Kim) Touesnard; grandchildren, Ryan, Daniel, Erin (Justin), Brendan, Benjamin, Tessa, Reese, Kiana, Devon and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Colton, Brooklyn, Emmy Douglas and Rosie; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; brother, Robert; sisters, Barb and Nancy and beloved dog, Pepper. Doug was a Wireless Operator in the RCAF and was an electrical engineer at Nova Scotia Light and Power and Nova Scotia Power Corporation for 35 years. He was a longtime member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club, Banook Canoe Club and Dartmouth Curling Club. He will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humour and great love of music, puzzles and reading. Special thanks to the staff in Camp Hill Veteran’s Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 1st from 7-9pm with memorial service on Tuesday, October 2nd at 1pm, all in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home.
