It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Douglas Ainslie McFarlane which occurred at the Loch Lomond Village on Friday, January 12th, 2018. Born 1953, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Alden and Marjorie (Cameron) McFarlane. Doug worked as a Quality Control Inspector for 28 years. He later worked as a Carpentry Instructor at the Saint John Regional Correctional Center. Doug had a very strong faith and his greatest desire was to reflect the love of Christ to everybody. He belonged to a Christian Life Community. Doug and Heather enjoyed many trips together on his Honda Goldwing. Doug loved wood working and he could build anything. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he cherished every moment spent with his family.
Doug is survived by his loving and devoted wife Heather (Ellis) of 46 years; son Colin McFarlane (Kelly) of Saint John; daughter Leanne McFarlane of Saint John; twin brother David McFarlane (Shirley) and brother Larry (Mary) of Kingston, NB; sister Sylvia Capson (Art) of Saint John; sister-in-law Irene McFarlane of Hampton; grandchildren Connor, Emma, Ellis, and McKenzie; great grandson Cameron; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his brother Paul.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, January 15th from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road) on Tuesday, January 16th at 11 a.m. A private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in memory of Doug may be made to The Hope Center, Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Chalice, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
