Obituary for
Dorothy Brown
Lieutenant-Colonel Dorothy Rose Brown was Promoted to Glory from The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Center on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Lieutenant-Colonel Edwin Brown on August 15, 2001.
A loyal and dedicated follower of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Dorothy was a vibrant and loving person, whose grace and elegance was demonstrated in all aspects of her life. Her love of scripture was evident to all and her life scripture was found in Jeremiah 29:11: « For I know the plans I have for you, » declares the Lord, « plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. »
The hallmarks of Dorothy’s ministry as a Salvation Army Officer were seen in her care and compassion of others especially children and youth. However, her greatest joy was found in her children Ted (Dalene) Darlene (Jim) and Lieutenant-Colonel Brenda (John) and through her eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and large extended family. Family was a treasured gift from God.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army North Toronto Community Church, 817 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, Ontario (St. Peter’s Estonian Church). The service will be preceded by visitation commencing at 10:00 a.m.
