McISAAC, Doris
Doris McIsaac, 95 years old of Marion Bridge, N.S and formerly, Toronto, Ontario
died peacefully at home with her family beside her on Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 08,
2018.
At the age of 87, she moved to Marion Bridge in 2010 with her daughter, Pat and
son-in-law, Jerry Gillis. She instantly fell in love with the Mira and the people of
Cape Breton. She had a passion for music and spent most of her days listening to
old country and gospel music. She loved animals, especially her cats.
She had an infectious smile which would light up a room and she thoroughly
enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her positive attitude and love for
life was an inspiration to all. She will be fondly remembered by all those who met
her.
She is survived by her children, Pat (Jerry) Gillis, John (Merry) McIsaac;
grandchildren, Laurie (Bob) Proulx, Leslie (Bernie) Hurley, Adam McIsaac, Kate
(Ian) Hilson; great-grandchildren, Matthew, John Michael, Lauren, Katelyn and
Elinor and great-great-granddaughter, Ella; sister-in-law, Marcella MacDonald;
numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles McIsaac, originally from Sydney;
children, Gloria & Corrine; parents, Charles & Martha McArthur and brothers,
Hugh, Ewart, John, Tommy, Ronnie and sister, Betty.

Homemakers, VON, CB Regional nurses and staff on 4B and everyone on the ER
unit for their dedicated care. A special thanks to the Gillis family for their
continuous love and support, Sharon Lynk for her kindness and friendship, and
Dinky Cameron for always putting a song in her heart and a smile on her face
Cremation has taken place, with a celebration of Doris’ life to be held at the
Chant’s Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra Street on Thursday at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate, followed by reception at the same location.
