After a 10 month battle with cancer her prayers were answered. Doris Fay Bonn was born on November 15, 1957 at Lethbridge, Alberta, passing away on November 5, 2018 at the age of 60 years young. She was sadly predeceased by her mother, Helen Bonn, in 2006. Doris leaves surviving her father, Edmund Bonn; loving husband, Blaine Hovanes; children, Neil Bonn, Nicole Bonn (Garret Gatehouse) and Ashley Hovanes; brother, Gordon (Sharon) Bonn; and sisters, Ruby (Grant) Costigan, Joanne (Greg) Hank, Susan Bonn (Syd Postma) and Kathy (Jerry) Kittle; 11 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.
In 1966 Doris’s family moved from Lethbridge to Kelowna, to North Glenmore, where Doris lived until her demise. Doris worked as a purchasing agent for a local computer business, and had recently celebrated 25 years with that company. She had a strong work ethic, was always cheerful, extremely efficient, detail oriented and was valued by her customers and suppliers. Summer was Doris’s favorite time of year. On her days off, Doris would pack up her trailer (with her dog, or two dogs at times, in tow) and head for a secluded mountain lake near Kelowna for some R & R, and some fishing. During the winter months, in her spare time Doris perfected her knitting skills, and a lucky number of people were blessed with the fruits of her labor. She was also a member at the Michaelbrook Golf Club, and held the title of women’s champion in the Kelowna 8 Ball Pool League for a number of years.
The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Rachel Carver, and to the wonderful people at Kelowna Hospice who cared for Doris in her final days. Doris our daughter, wife, sister, mother, and aunt will be sadly missed, and remembered in our hearts with great love and affection. There will be no service at Doris’s request.
