OBITUARY
Doris Ella (Spears) Farquharson
May 23, 1931 – December 5, 2018
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Doris Farquharson, age 87, of Dartmouth on December 5, 2018 in Lewis Hall Parkland at the Lakes. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Adelaide (Purcell) Spears. Survived by her sons, Paul (Carol), Dartmouth, David (Elizabeth), Orleans, ON; sister, Noreen (Peter) Rent, Mount Uniacke. Mom will also be missed by her grandchildren, Craig, Sarah, Ashley and Jennifer. As well as great-granddaughter Carlee. Predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Edward Farquharson; brother, Aubrey (in infancy); sisters, Kathleen Horne and Carol Hartley. A lifelong resident of Dartmouth, Mom was a devoted wife and mother. A founding member of the Church of the Holy Spirit ACW, she spent many hours in service to her church. She also worked outside the home at Kellogg’s, Robinson Carruthers and Moffatt’s Pharmacy. In earlier years Mom enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and numerous church events. She was active with both the Maid Marion Chapter of IODE and the local TOPS group. More recently Mom spent many hours knitting baby blankets that found their way across the country. Special thanks to Cathy, Melanie, Mary Ann and the caring staff of Nantucket Lane – Lewis Hall. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11th from 6-9pm in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12th at 2pm in Church of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. Donations may be made to Church of the Holy Spirit Memorial Fund.
