Doris Eileen Parker
1938-2018
The passing of Doris Eileen (Thomas) Parker, wife of Clarence Parker
of Fredericton, NB occurred on January 14, 2018 after many years of
struggling with failing health. She was predeceased by her parents,
Arthur and Jennie Thomas, also her sisters Evelyn McLean, Jean Rowan
and Virginia Phillips. She is survived by her husband, Clarence and
their two children, Michael Parker (Heather) and Linda MacDonald
(John), also by two twin brothers, Arthur Thomas (Helene) and John
Thomas (Lorraine). She is also survived by her five grandchildren,
Rebecca, Bradley, Rachel, Tyler and Parker.
Eileen was born on April 23rd, 1938 in Magaguadavic, York County, NB.
She was the first born and her father’s pride and joy. Her
family moved to Harvey Station when Eileen was in grade six and she
graduated from high school at the top of the class.
Eileen worked at numerous jobs, including in a bank prior to meeting
her husband. They married young and Eileen moved to Halifax where
Clarence was attending university. She then earned her PHT (Putting
Hubby Through University), where she earned their living while
Clarence earned his Degrees. After university, they moved to northern
Quebec where they adopted their son, Michael. They then moved to
Ontario where they adopted their daughter, Linda. They then returned
to Fredericton where Eileen was a stay at home mom until her children
were in their teens. She was then employed at RossDrug and later as
an optometrist’s assistant.
In 1991, Eileen was badly injured in an automobile accident. She
worked diligently at trying to get her health back and her life to
what it had been before. She and her husband were fortunate to have
traveled to Europe, Florida, Paris, etc. in their younger years. In
2005, Eileen’s health deteriorated and she struggled for many
years with numerous health issues. Because of these, their home on
Elmwood Court was sold and from there they moved to several apartments
and then to Ste. Anne’s Court. In 2016 Eileen was hospitalized
and because Clarence’s health was also deteriorating, she was
admitted to Pine Grove Nursing Home until her death.
At Eileen’s request, there will be no funeral service. A
graveside service will be held in the summer at Harvey Settlement
Cemetery, NB
