HANRAHAN, DOREEN MARIE
Much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, aged 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, March 30, 2018. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of John and Hazel (LaPierre) Hanrahan, survived by her brother Ronny (Vida Woodworth, their daughters Colleen and Paula), Lantz, and pre-deceased by her brother Brian (Sherry Armstrong), Borger, TX
Doreen was known to many as the ‘girl singer’ with the Don Warner Orchestra, singing with the band from 1955 to 1992, (thereby providing her daughters with dress-up dresses par excellance).
A lifelong woman of faith, Doreen was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Halifax, where she continued to sing as a member of the choir up until just before her passing.
Doreen loved her family, her faith, her friends, music, the cottage in East Pennant, a good game of Clegg, lobster, and strawberries.
She is survived by her husband Gerald; son Gary (Scott Price), Maitland; daughters Susan (Tim Taylor), East Pennant, and Carole (Robert Clarke), Halifax; grandsons Nick Jarrett (Selina Fortier), Halifax, and Ben Jarrett (Sara Paquette), Victoria, BC; and five great-grandchildren.
The family thanks Dr. Hebb, paramedics and emergency staff, and, in particular Christine, Rhonda, and Sara who provided excellent and compassionate care.
Arrangements are under the care of JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Visitation will from 6-8 pm, Monday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 3. The funeral will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 4 at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Rd., Halifax with reception following in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.jasnowfuneralhome.com
