Donna Mae Janke 2018

Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of
It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Janke announces her passing on Friday, November 8, 2018 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
She was born in Indian Head, SK to Wes and Elsie Ford on October 17, 1945.
Donna was predeceased by her infant son Richard Garry; parents Wes and Elsie Ford; and parents-in-law Cliff and Hilma Janke.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 53 years, Garry; sons Darren (Leeane) of Regina, Brent (Fern) of Fort McMurray, AB; daughter Tara (Ryan) of Seattle, WA; sister Phyliss (Alan) Colquhoun of Saskatoon; brother-in-law Allan Janke (Sheila) of Weyburn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donna took her high school education in Regina and then went on to the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus, where she trained to be a hospital laboratory technician. While at university, she met her future husband and they married in 1965. They moved to Weyburn where she worked briefly at the Weyburn General Hospital and at the Weyburn Mental Hospital. In 1972 they moved back to Regina and then in 1973 to Balgonie. Donna was an avid reader and was known to read as many as five books a week. She started working at the Balgonie Library and ended up running it for several years. She loved the ‘story time’ with the children. Donna loved plants and flowers and when faced with “empty nest syndrome” her gardening skills really kicked in. She began starting her own bedding plants indoors and at the peak of her passion she was nurturing 5,000 bedding plants and transferring them to a greenhouse when the weather warmed up. She would fill 90 flower pots as well as several flower beds. Many happy family and wedding photos were taken in her beautiful garden. Donna liked to cook and prepared many memorable meals. The family recipe book which she wrote is filled with tasty ideas for food pleasure. She enjoyed entertaining at home, as well as going out with friends and family. Her quick humour will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. B. Richardson and all the staff at the Kidney Health Centre, and the staff on Unit 3-3 at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DONNA will be at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Flowers are most gratefully declined. Donations, if desired, may be made in memory of Donna to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Saskatchewan Branch, Suite 1, 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8.
Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.
