Donata Maiorina Raniero (Borrelli)
Passed away at Hamilton General Hospital, on Friday, November 2, 2018, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Ernesto Raniero (2007). Loved mother of Giovanni Raniero (Julie) and Carmine Raniero (Klaudija). Cherished grandmother and dear sister of Vittorio Borrelli (Lucia), Cristina Iapaolo (Gentile), Nino Borrelli (the late Mariana) and Vincenzo Borrelli (Lina) and sister-in-law of Angelo Raniero (Lucia) and Natalina Colarocchio (the late Giuseppe). Predeceased by her brother Donato Borrelli (Nunziatina) and brothers-in-law Saverio Raniero (Carmelina) and Giovanni Raniero. Donata will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Casalciprano (Campobasso) Italy, she immigrated to Canada in 1968 and devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. Her family was her world. She exemplified respect, integrity, modesty,perseverance, empathy and a love for the simplest and most beautiful things in life. She befriended many people while working in the clothing, food and manufacturing industries, and later as a custodial assistant. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with love. She enjoyed gardening, walking, cooking and celebrating special occasions with friends and family. She was fiercely independent and religious, and is now at peace and reunited with her beloved Ernesto. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Prayer Vigil Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek, on Monday, November 5, 2018, at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery.
