Donald William Wormell died suddenly at home in Portland, Maine on Friday, December 28, 2018, with his wife by his side.
Don was a larger than life person with a wonderful laugh that would make his friends and family laugh with him. He was a paramedic by trade but a woodworker by love, a skill he learned at his father’s side growing up. Family and friends were important to him and he loved to help with their projects. Many of his friends have something in their home that Don built, from a small table to a complete kitchen, a lasting legacy to his skills.
Don was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick on May 8, 1961. He attended a community college in Saint John, N.B., but found his calling when he went to Daytona Community College and became a paramedic.
He worked for United Ambulance for 32 years and found an EMS family that stood by him for years. He recently worked at Eldridge Lumber doing kitchen design and loved the new friends and support he found there.
Don is survived by Elizabeth Delano, his loving wife of 28 years; parents, Eugene and Minnie Wormell; sister, Lynda Swan and her husband, Doug Swan; nephews, Justin and Jason Swan; mother-in-law, Virginia Delano; and sister-in-law, June Delano.
There will no memorial service but a celebration of his life will be held this summer at the cottage on the lake that he loved so well. His departure leaves a hole that will be impossible to fill but he will live in our hearts forever.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Donald William Wormell May 08 1961 December 28 2018..
