Obituary for
Donald Keith Durant, CD
Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday June 23, 2018 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Ann Durant (nee Turner) for 52 years. Loving father of Donald (Susan), Lynda (Alex Block), and Mary (Greg Burns). Proud grandfather of Robert, Valerie, William, Kathryn and Emma. Dear brother of Bev (Dave), his twin Donna (Alf), the late Doug (Kay) and the late Gerry (Dorothy). Son of the late Blake Durant and the late Sydney McCambley. He worked 34 years in the Finance Department of O.C. Transpo. His passion for music was reflected in his 17 years service as a Reserve Drummer starting with the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Pipe Band in the late 1950’s, the Signal Corps Band and retiring with the Band of HMCS Carleton as Petty Officer Second Class in 1976. He was a faithful member of First United Church and their choir and later was a huge support to his wife, Reverend Ann and her churches. He was a good friend to all and will be remembered for his kindness. Friends are invited to visit at Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor), Wednesday, June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel, Thursday June 28 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to OrKidstra (a music program for underserved communities) would be appreciated.
