Donald Hillyer Duval
went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday March
11th at the age of 92 at the Veterans Health
Unit.
He was born in Saint John New Brunswick on April
29th 1925 to Janet (Carle) & Foster
Fletcher Duval.
He was a graduate of Saint John High School Class of 43
and UNB.
He served on HMCS Bittersweet & HMCS Wallaceburg
during WWII. Don was an avid bowler, curler, golfer, Blue Jays and UNB
hockey fan.
He had been active in Fredericton Golden Club,
Fredericton Curling Club, Stepping Stones and a member of Skyline
Acres Baptist Church.
Don is survived by
his children Doug (Madelyn) Duval, Nancy (Brian) Duval-Akerley and
Janet (Denis) Lovely. Step children Carolyn (Ron) Finnie, Karen
(Donald) Lamey and Debbie (Greg) Bourque, brother in-law Murray
Beesley and two nieces and one nephew. Grandchildren
Scott Duval, Jodi Thornton, Katie Pierce, Rick Price, Alissa Lovely,
Greg Finnie, Cheryll Penny, Kim Jones, Matthew Bourque, Lindsay Duffy,
several great grandchildren and his special friend Valerie
Gilbey.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Marion,
wife Olive, brothers George and Carle, and his sisters Roberta and
Dorothy.
No visitation by request. A funeral service will
be held at Skyline Acres Baptist Church on Friday March 16, 2018 at
1:00 pm with Rev. Karl Csaszar officiating. Interment will be held at
the Rural Extension Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Bishop’s Funeral Home Ltd. have been entrusted with the
arrangements.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the
Veterans Health Unit for the excellent care and caring he received
there. It is a special talent to
take care of people at this stage of life and it was exhibited daily
at the Veterans Health Unit.
