Obituary for Domenica Leone (Monaco)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Domenica Margherita Leone on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Beloved wife of Pat Leone, and loving mother of Diana and Daniel Filice and Jessica Leone and Giuseppe Frasca. She was born on May 16, 1960 to her adoring parents Elia and Tony Monaco. She is predeceased by her late Nonna and Nonno, Filomena and Ersilio Serafini. She is survived by her mother-in-law Domenica Leone and her father-in-law, the late Mario Leone. She is survived by her loving sisters and brother Sandra and John, Anna, Linda, and Gianni and Valeria, and by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Maria and Vince Aresta. Loving aunt to Stephanie Aresta and Gabriella Brown. She will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Canada and the USA; especially Vilma and the late Donato DiStefano, the late Dino and Amelia Serafini, Sebastiano and Barbara Serafini, Gino and Ersilia Monaco, and Lidia D’Angelo.
Domenica was known for her commitment to education over the past 35 years having worked for both the Dufferin-Peel CDSB and Hamilton-Wentworth CDSB, and the Ministry of Education. After spending many years as a classroom teacher, she pursued a headship position in Special Education. Her professional journey continued as Vice-Principal, Student Success Lead, and Assistant Superintendent of Education. Her greatest gift was her ability to share her experiences and knowledge with all of her colleagues. She truly believed in the potential of the student learner and fully embraced the philosophy of “Each Belongs”. Domenica always mentioned that her greatest pleasure was to see the smile on the students’ faces.
Domenica was a master chef, a baker for all occasions, and an avid traveller. She loved to read and would often curl up to a good book next to her puppy Nala. She looked forward to becoming a grandmother to Baby Filice and spending countless hours nurturing a love for reading.
In her final journey, Domenica appreciated all those who travelled with her. Your devotion to Domenica surrounded her with comforting love and unwavering friendship. She valued family and friendship, and gave each the gift of time.

“An invisible thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but it will never break. May you be open to each thread that comes into your life – the golden ones and the coarse ones – and may you weave them into a brilliant and beautiful life.”
Domenica has become our invisible thread. Though our thread to her is stretched by heaven, our connection to her will never break. She dances among the angels.
