Dianne Barrington
We, the family, regret to announce the passing of our beloved
wife, mother and grandmother, Flo Dianne Barrington on Thursday,
November 15, 2018.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Edna
(Pushie) and Walter Mortimer.
Dianne started her 30-year teaching career as a music teacher
and eventually settled into the classroom, teaching grade four at
Ashby Elementary. She loved each and every one of her students and was
labelled a « favourite teacher » by all of
them.
Dianne is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward; son,
Derek (Cindy Marie Meade), Sydney; daughter, Sarah, Halifax;
granddaughter, Jessica Gillis, North Sydney; grandson, Tristan Clarke,
Glace Bay; sister, Jane Williams (Ada Smith), Halifax and several
nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the
dedicated staff of Buchanan Memorial Hospital and Highland Manor in
Neil’s Harbour, as well as the exceptional service provided
by the Home Care Staff North of Smokey.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society,
Palliative Care at Buchanan Memorial Hospital or the North of Smokey
Food Bank.
As per Dianne’s wishes, there will be no
visitation. Cremation has taken place and a committal service for
family and friends will take place at a later date.
