Roote, Leland Dennis passed away at his home on Saturday September 1, 2018 at the age of 67. Dennis will be sadly missed by his wife Mary Ellen “Mirriam” Roote (nee Gersonde) and all of her family. Dear father of Melanie, Gregg, and Jamie. Proud grandfather of Presley, James, Trenton, Brandon, Braxton, and Maylee. Brother of Roger Wesley, Ronald (Janet) Root, Marilyn Root, Leon (Charlene) Root, Theresa (Edwin) Root, David (Ellen) Root, Renita Nawash, and Gregg Root. Survived by his Aunt Christine Wesley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his grandparents, Alec & Isabell Root (nee John) and Alfred (Nagam) & Lila (nee Williams) Wesley, by his parents Crawford & Mabel Root, by his infant son Craig Root, by his sister Elizabeth Ritchie-Moore, by his nephews Adrian & Cavin Ritchie, and by his niece Lindsay Ritchie. Dennis was a proud member of the Wiarton Legion and enjoyed many times spent there with his wife Mirriam. Visitation will be held at the home of Theresa Root 926 French Bay Rd, Saugeen First Nation on Wednesday September 6, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. A Service to Celebrate the life of Leland Dennis Roote will be held at the home on Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at French Bay Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Grey Bruce.
