Cavanaugh, Delmar Lemuel;
It is with sorrow in our hearts that we
announce the passing of Delmar Lemuel Cavanaugh, 80, of North River.
He passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 5, 2018,
surrounded by family. Delmar is survived by his spouse, Colleen;
daughters, Tammi (Eddy) McNutt, Rhonda (Terry) McNutt, Karen (Sean)
MacPhee; son, Darrell (Shelly) Patton; grandchildren, Leah (Joey)
Marchand, Paige, Drew, and Jacob McNutt, Matthew, Nicholas, and
Charlotte Patton, Spencer MacPhee; great-grandson, Max Marchand;
brothers, Dean (Agnes), Layton (Margie); sisters, Florence (Wayne)
Smith, Marilyn Gilby, Dora Walker. He is also survived by his best
buddy « Pebbles ». He was predeceased by his parents,
Harry and Lottie (McNutt) Cavanaugh; siblings, Larry, Leonard, Hazel
and Gail (Reid). Delmar enjoyed tinkering in his garage, reminiscing
and spending time with extended family and friends, watching his
beloved Montreal Canadiens, his Saturday afternoon drives and
travelling to various rinks over the years to watch his grandsons play
hockey. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Special thank you to Dr. Slipp and the wonderful staff from VON who
took such great care of Delmar. Your compassion was greatly
appreciated. Family flowers only. Donations in Delmar’s
memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova
Scotia, VON, or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street
Truro, from where visitation will be held 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm Sunday,
December 9, with funeral service to follow at 4 pm, Rev. Carolyn
Wilson Wynne officiating. Interment to be held at a later date in the
North River United Church Cemetery, North River. Private messages of
