Della Shirley Leavitt
1928-2018
At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on January 5, 2018, Della
Shirley (Currie) Leavitt, wife of the late Leslie Leavitt of Pennfield
NB. She was born on January 1, 1926 in Fredericton, NB to the late
William and Bessie (Dickinson) Currie. Della worked for many years for
Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour as a packer. She was a social
butterfly, and led a very active life. Della was a member of the
Pennfield Baptist Church, the Senior’s Club and the Blacks Harbour
Curling Club. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and just being around
her family and friends. Della and Leslie loved being together; with
trips to the cottages in McDougall and Utopia. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother; Della loved all her grandchildren dearly.
She survived by her daughters: Linda Kelson (Rupert/Buddy) of Utopia
and Jackie Gaudet (Gene) of St. George; brother, Walter Currie;
grandchildren: Stephanie Robinson, Jason Robinson (Lori) and Angela
Martin (Edward); great-grandchildren: Megan, Cody, Christopher,
Daniel, Evan and Olivia; nine great-great-grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews and many close friends. Della was predeceased by
her husband, Leslie; parents and siblings: Beatrice, Kenny, Harold,
Christina and Betty.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street,
St George with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral
Service will be held from the St. George Funeral Home Chapel on
Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating.
Interment will take place at Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring.
For those who wish remembrances to Passamaquoddy Lodge or the charity
of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
