It is with great sadness that the family of Deborah Ann Hycha (Debbie) announces her passing away in Abbotsford BC on June 12, 2017 at the age of 51.
Debbie was born in Calgary Alberta on July 26, 1965. The family moved to Smithers BC in 1970. After graduating from Smithers Secondary School, she attended hairdressing school and a few years later, studied fashion design in Vancouver. While growing up, she was a happy child enjoying figure skating in the winter for many years, and in the summer, being in the outdoors playing, camping and fishing. Living in the country, Debbie adored all the family pets: cats, dogs, rabbits, ducks and geese.
She was very creative in everything she did. It was no challenge for her to custom design and sew neoprene diving suits, sewing costumes and other clothing, reupholstering chairs and sofas, etc.. She loved nature and was always on the lookout for some pebbles, feathers, twigs, anything she could use in her creative crafts.
She loved life, had a bubbly personality, and an infectious smile. She will be forever missed by her father Carl and her mother Claudette Hycha (nee Roussel) of Smithers, her sister Carlene of Testin Yukon, and her brother David of Smithers. She was predeceased by her younger sister Janet. She was loved and will also be greatly missed by her niece Roslynne, and her three nephews Dylan, Tommy and Cole as well as numerous family members from across Canada, the United States and Europe.
A Memorial Service to be held this summer in Smithers.
